Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

I recently watched the 2nd installation in the movie series of Narnia; Prince Caspian which I enjoyed tremendously.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
I have learnt very important lessons from all the characters in the movie; to believe in yourself and do what is right.
Recently I had an unpleasant discovery which rather relived some old and bitter memories of the past and surprisingly, it still managed to stir that odd and upset feeling in me.
Perhaps again, it is not just the memories, but the present which have created that double impact.
Names are not necessary in this context, but suffice to say, the harm was slightly unexpected and I bet those out there who have spent your "precious time" should be aware of what you have done.

Disappointing but yet, I am learning from Aslan, "Do not hesitate when you believe that you are right and make the right move"

I always believed in looking at a positive side of the coin and those who choose to sit on the same side of my boat are welcome to, but if you are only interested in stirring the waters, thanks but no thanks.
I prefer teammates rather than bystanders.

Sarcasm aside, the 2nd installation of Narnia in the movie series is a recommended watch, you can check out the review here
(Beware of spoilers though!)

Have a great weekend!

The Golden Compass

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Based on a book; the Northern Lights, by Philip Pullman, the movie came to life bringing along the string of magical creatures ranging from witches, talking animals in the form of daemons, polar bears involved in an interesting twist of mystical events.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Don't blame me for complaining as I do really like magic and fantasy worlds, BUT aren't we overdose on this genre for this year and the previous?
I mean, I don't mind great adapations nor wizardry but excessive feed can eventually drown you of that interest or enthusiasm since you will be expecting the same storyline of magical characters to appear and some sort of power struggle and prophecies and ultimate battle (where eventually good will triumph over evil OR, just a cliffhanger ending which signals a sequel in the making:p)

Philip Pullman's novel was also a trilogy which was also in the same genre of magical world and his tale was spun on our human world and another parallel world beside us where human beings and their souls are separated and can walk next to them in the form of daemons. This world is governed by the Magisterium; some sort of government for the magical world.

The protagonist of the story was a little girl about the age of 10; Lyra Belacqua, played by Dakota Blue Richards.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Mischievous,free-spirited and strong-willed, Lyra was placed in a school by her uncle, the grave and no-nonsense Lord Asriel who wanted her to be groomed to be a fine young lady in the future.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Played by the new Bond, Daniel Craig, this character is not much of a favourite by the Magisterium who plans to bring him down through death to prevent him from obtaining the mysterious Dust and connecting their world to the human world.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
He was a strict and ambitious man, who made the profound discovery of Dust and announces his wish to embark on his journey to the North to do his research which was frowned upon by the Magisterium but was finally approved with the strong support of Lyra's college.

Lyra dreams of going to the North although was forbidden by her uncle that she fell into the embrace of her new acquaintance at the college; Mrs Marisa Coulter (Nicole Kidman) who seemed to be fond of her and invited her along on her trip to the North; with the college's approval.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

And thus, begins an exciting journey as the story slowly uncovers the adventures of this fearless girl in overcoming and dealing with trust, deceit, betrayal and loyalty along the way.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Without revealing too much (spoiler), you can refer to my Movie Bugz for the full story
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

Overall, the cinematography of the movie was not too bad; and the movie started off on a slow note and builds up to its climax.
The characters were developed to reality; particularly Lyra. However, I must say her acting skills were still mediocre as Daniel Craig's.
The only ones worth watching in this movie were the two ladies; Nicole Kidman and Eva Green who were modest and as usual, stunning in their ways.

I should say this is a rather interesting watch as well if you are into the genre; but do not hope for a kid with magical powers like Harry Potter, Lyra is more realistic as she is just any normal schoolgirl except that she was destined (as usual) to be the only key to read the Golden Compass which answers the question posted by the key holder and reveals in its own way that only the prophesized will know how to read it.

And the screens go BAAAAA

Anyone watched Black Sheep? The supposedly horror movie or highly grossed movie focusing on some mutant lambs and sheeps which reportedly go about on a killing spree...sounds gross right?

I am with you bestie; I gotta give horrors a pass....I get nightmares each time watching and scare myself silly...haha, everyone is telling me to stop watching all these movies:p

However, I kinda heard a couple of reviews from my friends that this happens to be a horror+comedy...people ended up laughing through the movie!

I am still wondering how can this stir laughter? Either it's too silly, or the producers/directors were too unrealistic with their graphics or one more, audience are getting more and more intelligent to be taken away by some silly recycled idea of mutant animals feasting on human beings following the trend from their predecessors; 8-Legged Freaks or some Spider movies which also was a case of mutant spider. Then there's those with the snakes, etc.

Is there no other idea for a horror or gross movie that they had to move from those predator-mutants to now the breed of domestic animals and freaking us or possibly the younger generation on these tame animals? So unjustified, huh?

What next, mutant puppies, kittens, tortoise? How about Goldfish...haha, they can add more animation to jumping goldfishes out of their bowl to bite the humans who walk past their bowls and then die after the bite:p

Sighs....the moviemakers seriously need to rethink the wave of the movie trends they are setting these days...YAWNS!

That being said, I have not watched it myself:p
Appreciate if anyone of you has and are willing to share your thoughts with me:D

RAT TA TOO EEEEEE

The much awaited movie...erm...correction, MY much awaited Disney animation movie is finally out!!!
Hehe....I was out the week of its release but fret not, I finally watched it last weekend!! YEAY!
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Don't worry, I won't be doing a full-length review here....you can check out my Movie Bugz blog for that;)
*Furthermore, I want no spoilers for those who have not watched the movie yet:p

As a Disney fan, you will not expect much bad criticsms from me. However, that being said, it doesn't mean that I will provide such a biased opinion:p
Anyway, I must say...it was really cool...hehe, funny!
Another thing...it was a little gross come to think of it...especially with those mass of rats scampering all around...YIKES!!
I couldn't stand that:p

A gist of the storyline; there is this rat who was different from the others...he had an exquisite culinary skill and also taste. He is definitely not just ANY rat that will eat ANYTHING...haha, and he dreams of becoming a chef...a dream he harboured all his life and he spent his time admiring his idol, the famous French Chef Gusteau who had a restaurant in the world's romantic city, Paris.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Gusteau died, and in a twist, Remy(the main character...the extraordinary rat) found himself in Paris and soon on his way to becoming a chef through the hands of Linguini, a kitchen boy who just wanted a job.

Okay, enough said...or else you guys will say I spoil it for you:p
The thing about this movie is this; the animation and 3D graphics...quite realistic...
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
You can even see those hairs on the rats.....eeeewwwssss.....
I never did liked rodents and I wouldn't say it changed much even after a Disney movie:p
But hey, it was entertaining and the graphics and animations were kinda real.....
I enjoyed the movie...although I must say, it wouldn't really be that suitable for young kids...the meaning and the experience depicted in the movie may be too complex for a kiddy's story:p

For full details and more dissection into the movie, gotta check my Movie Bugz;)

Barbie's Dance

Another movie review?
Haha...yaya...Angelstar just happen to be in the mood for movies these days instead of series:p
And this is another animation I watched:D

I have always loved Barbie...which girl doesn't anyway? It's always a beautiful dream and the sweetie and girly pastel pink colours are just enough to make you go ga ga when you were a little girl in ponies and pigtails.
It's inexplicable; just the way guys go wawa over Transformers:)

I always have been fond of Barbie animations (by Mattel) since it was shown on TV3; our local TV channel. I think I have watched more than a couple of them; from Swan Lake to Rapunzel,Nutcracker, Magic of Pegasus,Fairytopia,Princess and the Pauper and to add to my list is the recent 12 Dancing Princesses.
Actually not so recent anymore; it was last year's release
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

So sweet and I was enchanted once again by the magical world and also reminded of my love for fantasy and fairytales with all the promises of an always happy ending:)
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

Not too long and a simple adaptation of an old story; the 12 Dancing Princesses.
This animation was just so pinky and sweet; as in all Mattel's animations.
I just loved it; not much review about the movie before I bore everyone out of their wits:p
*dreams of fairylands*

Just My Luck

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
I watched this movie; starring Lindsay Lohan who was such a lucky chic who can just hit the jackpot if she picked and scratched a lottery ticket at random.
In the busy New York city, she never has to wait for a cab and in the worst situations, she can turn things right and even landed herself a promotion.
Then her luck turned when she kissed this MOST unlucky guy on earth and their luck just interchanged like that....
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
And she couldn't figure out why until she remembered that her bad luck started from that kiss and there is one major issue, she couldn't remember the guy since it was a masquerade party and she tracked down the list of guys; dancers at the party and kissed everyone of them to win her luck.
Gross...:p

When she did found her luck and the right guy, she realized that everyone else around her suffered some sort of bad luck.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
And after a decision, she decided to kiss the guy she has fallen for to return his luck and he didn't want it either; and they decided to balance it by giving it to his little sister...so sweet:D

It's a nice and simple story but I also got to thinking; what would I do given this situation?
Would I give up my own luck and luxury?
You know, I am not trying to act noble or be such a great heroine and drama queen here; but frankly, if I were given such luck, but everyone around me will not be lucky, I will not be happy either.
I am enjoying all the luck and yeah, I may be all smiles but everyone around me are in tears; I don't think I will be happy with that luck and it isn't so lucky anymore.
Even the smile will vanish from my face....
I mean it, given anything, I truly appreciate happiness more than anything...

And on another side of the story, my ex-housemate whom I just talked to this morning, the shampoo girl(haha, she should know what I mean...if she remembers our memories)...was so darn lucky coz she won the 4D cash prize....and the number she bought was totally absurd....
So darn lucky lar!!!!
But never mind, she's gonna treat me, right?hahaha....
Talk about luck and sharing......:D

Transformers Movie Review

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
I have finally watched Transformers last weekend; and as promised I will provide my thoughts (not exactly a full review of the movie lar) on this movie.
As mentioned earlier, I am not exactly a fan of this Hasbro product though I knew of its existence long ago - even in the early 80's (during our childhood days).
We often see this in the cartoons on the tv back then and also the commercials; but back then, we always classify this as a boys- thing.
Anyway, I heard that there has been numerous versions of this movie and cartoons; depicting the various forms and shapes and origins of the robots.
Well, I am no fan of the robots and thus, I was just there to catch this movie:
1. To accompany a friend who was a fan
2. To see for myself the hype and buzz caused by this movie (somemore bro told me people have been clapping at the end of the movie:p)

With an open mind, I went in to the cinema to watch the movie; was wondering whether I will fall asleep through the movie as well:p
Anyway, after a few reels of commercials and way surpassing the actual screen time (I often dislike waiting for the movie to be on and how they can never meet the screen time stated on the ticket), the movie finally started with the voice of a robot narrating about the planet cybertron and also about the cube which was the power behind the birth of all races and living on the planet and also the existence of human race. Things were at peace back then but as usual, there is always good and evil; as greed surpass some of the beings there which lead to them fighting for the possession of the cube to have the ultimate power and rule over others.
Thus, duels have sparked and soon, the tracking of the cube (aka Allspark) have led them to the planet Earth where it was reported to have been sighted.
The movie brought us to the US army base in the Middle East and how the robots came to invade and tap into the highly protected government network to search for the cube found. We were at a loss as to what kind of data were they looking for as they try various hi-tech methods to hack into the military system and to download the data. Then there were battles and bombing of the naval base which led the United States to believe that they have an enemy and starting to suspect various countries. However, the noises and signals from the attacks led them to analyze that this is something beyond a normal human species' power.
Then we were led to the life of a high school boy; Sam Witwicky who was presenting on his assignment of family history and he blabbered about his great great grandfather who explored the Atlantic and then ended up promoting his ancestor's spectacles which is being auctioned at eBay. Then the story went on that he got his first car; which due to his dad's budget, managed an old Camaro for 4 grand.
Turns out, this is no ordinary car; which bore the transformers logo on it and could play songs according to the different moods. It was pretty funny when his car helped him in his quest to court his fellow classmate; a stunning girl by the name Mikaela who we later found, also had some dark secrets.
Then this was how they were involved in the battle of the robots and Sam slowly found that his Camaro was a robot. Freaking himself out, he later helped them in the mission to obtain the cube and then, the movie progressed into an exciting battle and chase between the good and evil robots and to the cool appearance of the leaders.
The Camaro was Bumblebee; one of the Autobot kind (autonomous robotic beings from Planet Cybertron and in short, the good guys). As he couldn't fight off those attacks anymore, he sends signals to summon his counterparts from planet Cybertron and then, hail the Autobots and we see various meteors hitting the planet Earth which later found themselves vehicles and they transformed themselves.
It seems that these robots are mere prototypes and do not have a shape of their own until they see something that they want; passes by any vehicle and reforms themselves into that form.
Also, I was told that the Autobots are mostly vehicles on the road while the bad robots (the Decepticons) are mostly battle ships/vehicles....isn't that a major disadvantage to the autobots?

Anyway, I won't talk about the story anymore...don't want too much spoilers...
Let me go into the movie analysis; I must say I was pretty impressed by the CGI effects...the transformation of the robots looked so smooth and natural that it didn't seem like it was sliding.
In fact, the robots (through the CG effects) seemed like they were naturally in the movie!
Thumbs up for the marvellous works done in the blend!!!:)
This is definitely hard work and I know that this movie took years to complete but bravo for the great job...I was really "Wow-ed" by the effects.

I found myself rooting for the appearance of the autobots army and even felt emotions for the robots when they were hurt. It was really cool when BumbleBee summoned his fellow counterparts and then we see all of them transforming and joining Bumblebee at the back alley'; to the surprise of Sam and Mikaela.
I really liked that part where their leader; the grand Optimus Prime introduced himself and the rest of them...his voice sounded so noble and convincing.
**I was told that they requested the actual/original voice from the cartoons back then and he agreed....this is a very old man's voice...and it is the same one for Optimus Prime..hurrah!~
Let me introduce some of the autobots featured in the movie:
The GRAND leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
The most noble robot; that's why he was the leader.
His famous quote: Freedom is the right of all sentient beings
His motto was to protect the humans for they are innocent in the entire battle; and he was so noble that he is willing to sacrifice his own beings to avoid hurting the innocent in the process. It was really touching but he is really righteous and kind:)
Thumbs up for such a noble being that we see in a robot!!!

Our lead hero in the movie; Bumblebee.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Actually his original form was that of a Volkswagen but I did some findings and it seem that VW did not allow them to use the copyright in the movie and therefore, they had to change him to a Camaro.
At the same time, the producers wanted a bigger car to illustrate a more believable transformation when he transforms into his Autobot form; as a gigantic battle robot.
Another factor is they didn't want any resemblance to the other movie which was famed after the little beetle bug of a car; Herbie:)
I do so like him and it is really touching the way he shielded Sam and also in his fight, he was hurt...I thought he perished; but thankfully, he survived despite the two deaths...

Jazz
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
I don't know much; but I think this was the one in charge of medical...haha, yeah, the Autobots have their own medical team as well:)

Ironhide
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
This was the weapon specialists....

According to my friend, this movie depicted the Autobots as pretty weak robots when in actual fact; in the comics/cartoon, they are not.
Then I am glad; coz they are too good to be killed and bullied:D

Personally, I also felt that there were more appearances of the mean robots or aka Decepticons compared to the good ones.
Their leader....the mighty Megatron
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
He was captured by the humans and held as captive in the S-7; a government's secret establishment where he was frozen to preserve him.
He was the leader and the strongest in his strength...
His mission was to own the Cube and he will do anything to achieve his mission; destroying anything or anyone in his way. He really detests humans and call them weak beings.
A memorable and hilarious part was during the battle when he saw a human near him and he just flicks them away, "Disgusting!!" LOLz.....:D:D

The cool suave black police car after Sam....Barricade
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
When I saw the Transformers logo; I thought it was the good Autobot...so wrong!
It was the Decepticons again...but I wonder why they took the form of a righteous force....
I was told that the police car usually belongs to the Autobots form....huh...confusing lar...this movie:p

Blackout...this was the helicopter...
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

Starscream, the only name I can remember in the movie...haha, and always misperceived him as one of the Autobots too:p
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
A fighter F-2 plane....
Very aggressive decepticon which fights all the way...and it was cool the way he transforms himself into that plane attacking the base...at the end...wow:)

All in all, I must say that it was pretty captivating movie and even me, a non believer and not a fan have found myself liking the robots:)
I remembered one of the sermons by my parish priest a couple of weeks ago where he mentioned that he was also touched by the fact that the Autobots; particularly Optimus who wanted to protect the humans despite his urgent quest to obtain the Cube/Allspark to save the race. However, he wanted to accomplish his mission without any injuries or acts of destruction on the innocent.
It was endearing to hear and see that robots could have such perception and emotions and understand the consequences of their actions and chose not to hurt others.
How about human themselves?
Have we ever pondered on how meaningful this means?
I am truly enlightened by my priest's words and also the acts of Optimus Prime:)
Yeah, Autobots may be depicted as weaklings here but to me, they are strong because it is always easy to use your full strength to kill and destroy others but it is hard to balance and use your strength to battle and at the same time, protect.
So, it is always the good that triumphs over the evil!!:)
Go Autobots....

I bet Hasbro will be receiving plenty of responses following the success of the movie...
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

There will be sequels for this movie soon; coming 2009 and in fact, there's even words on the 3rd...making them a trilogy:)
Whatever it is, let's keep our fingers crossed and do keep in mind the moral of the story:)
Let's get Rollin'......

Only thing though, too bad my "Transformers" old tune was not used in this movie...LOL!

Transformers!!

I just watched Transformers during the weekend and I only have one word for it...CUN!!!!
Hehe....really impressive lar...
You know me, I am never one for Sci-fi and I am not interested at all...and I went for the movie without any expectations despite the fact that I know this cartoon from my childhood.
I decided to go for the movie(you know the stubborn me will never go for anything that is not within my interest:p) because of the various good reviews I heard from everyone.
My bro even told me that some of his colleagues who went for the movie even ended up in the hall where everyone stood up and clapped at the end of the movie....amazing!!
I initially thought it was mere exaggeration but hey, I was also really impressed and really enjoyed watching the movie!:)
I will write up a short review soon...and hey, I am transformed into a Transformers fan now...hehehe!!!
Okay, that's all for now, will be back with a review on Transformers....
Angelstar, roll out!:)

Blur me...I really lost track of everything....man.....

Haha.....interesting!

At the same time, this weekend will mark the release of the final book of the famous Harry Potter series; the 7th book and the grand finale.

200 Pounds Beauty

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

This movie is currently showing in cinemas nationwide; a Korean movie which I would say, enthusiasts of soap operas(Korean fans) should not miss.
Why?
It contains all the elements of a likeable Korean hit with all those charming faces and gorgeous babes who even cry pretty:)
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
But besides that, this movie had a new twist from the norm which most of the Korean dramas seem to showcase most of the time of those triangular or square-love as I call it.
Namely, the formula often applied in their movies are usually girl falls in love with boy or vice versa; and at the same time, they both have other people secretly harbouring feelings for them as well; thus boy loves girl, girl loves boy, boy loves girl, girl loves boy.....you know, and then all the trials and tribulations, they end up together but happy ending? Not so...then girl diagnosed with illness (usually cancer...fave is leukemia) and then you follow through the dramatic sequence and end up crying over boxes of tissues.

So what's so different from another Korean spin of movies?
200 Pounds Beauty actually focuses on the realities of life and love (of course) but most importantly, it is educating for the contemporary youth on searching for their own identities and the true deciphering of the saying that Beauty is only skin deep.

Kang Hanna is an overweight or obese young lady who harvests a deep passion for singing. In fact, she was gifted with the voice to sing and this gained her a job as a singer.
No, not a front stage singer, Hanna was actually the back stage singer of a pop singer, Ammy who had the looks and the body but do not have the voice of a singer. In a desperate move to promote her, her manager, Sang Jun, resorted to hiring a voice talent for her to rise to fame.
Hanna was pleased and at the same time, fell in love with the dashing and kind manager.

The ugly truth reveals when she was invited to Sang Jun's birthday party and she wore the dress which the guy bought for her and Ammy appeared in the exact same dress. She was embarassed and as she hid in the restroom, she overheard Sang Jun and Ammy's argument and found out that all along, Sang Jun only wanted to use her to promote Ammy and he warned Ammy to be nice to her.
Soon, Hanna resorted to dieting to lose weight and in one drastic move, she made up her mind to undergo plastic surgery for a total reform.
Disappearing for a year, Sang Jun was searching frantically for Hanna as Ammy was unable to release her album due to her disappearance.

Hanna, in the meantime, has gone through rounds of surgery and tanks of liposuction and she is now a skimpy girl who floats. Estatic, she bought her favourite dress and started singing that she is beautiful on the streets. She turned heads and she soon learnt that beauty really can do wonders!
She was still not confident and even hid behind walls when she bumps into Sang Jun.
She soon learns that her whole recording company have been watching on her dad (an Alzheimer's patient) in the home and she avoided visiting him for a year despite her yearning to see him.

After a careful round of thought, she decided to go back to her old interest, and she auditioned for the role for Ammy's background singer again using the identity Jenny.
She won the contract but Sang Jun had other plans; instead of using her as the background singer, he proposed to bring her up as a new generation singer and using her claim that she was a natural beauty.
A series of events followed and soon, everyone discovered her true identity as Hanna and that she was a fraud.
On the night of her premier/pilot concert, she was so down that she refused to go on stage but Sang Jun pushed her to it and she eventually did.
However, she actually didn't sing BUT broke down and confessed the whole truth.
Sang Jun then helped by showing her old look and how well she sang.
Her true fans told her it was alright and she regained her confidence.
Sang Jun, at the same time, realized he had fallen in love with her.....

Moral of the story?
This is truly a beautiful story and depicts the ugly realities of life. We are often viewed as objects and only nice-looking objects are graded as acceptable. Otherwise, you are often despised; and as such only people with the good looks and the body are considered a position in the society and if you are born with plain looks or even with a heavy weight, then you are doomed to be an outcast in the society; no matter how good or what kind of talents you have within you.
Isn't that sad?
We have so many stories telling us that this is not so; but yet, the media themselves have been playing their part in showcasing all the slim and beautiful/hunky models - creating the image in all the minds that this is the ideal society we are looking at and hence, we are creating anorexics, bulimics and also paving opportunities for the plastic surgeons and also liposuction to make their way into the industry.
BIG SIGH!

This movie really touched me; and it really made me feel very sad that we are such shallow beings despite the advancement of technology. I felt the tears particularly towards the end of the movie; especially when Hanna confessed to the crowd....

So sad....actually it is a clear distinction between Hanna, Ammy and Sang Jun - the 3 main characters in this movie. Hanna was the only one who was not the "in" crowd BUT, she was also the only one with a pure and generous heart who was kind to everyone.
Ammy was too conceited and selfish about herself and her looks; same goes for Sang Jun....
Perhaps, that's the price that is tagged with beauty....it always invites vanity and individualism along with it....

Perhaps we should really reflect and think about it...
Are looks really that important to you?
Can we make a difference?
Let me know your thoughts if any....

Horrifying Korean Teachers?

I was thinking of catching this Korean horror movie over the weekend when I was bored and thought of scaring myself a little...hehe, maklum-lah,can scare the stressed mind out:p
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Yesterday, I stumbled upon the trailer of this movie and it looked kinda dull (in color) and it looked kinda sinister and I bet there were gory scenes since they mentioned there were murders involved...not sure how good this is....haven't heard from anyone yet...
Anyone watched it yet?
Any opinions?

The storyline that I read on this was that it was about a reunion with a disabled school teacher after 16 years; and the students were bent on revenge against their elementary school teacher who had done things to them....I think was rather strict with them during their school days.
Then the reunion somehow turned out to be disturbing as the attendees of the reunion turned up dead one by one and a horrific truth is revealed....
What is the truth?
Don't ask me...I have no idea....I have not and am not even sure whether to watch this.
Korean horror is somehow slightly better (in my opinion) compared to Japanese horror which has been pretty generic since The Ring which they was over-acclaimed in its fame.
Anyway, do let me know for those who have watched it...I haven't watch horror in a year now and I do not want to freak myself out when my housemates are not around....hehe:P

Men in White

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Okay, before I totally lost memory of this movie, let me just do a quick review on it.
I watched this last Saturday; not really into horror these days but just wanted to rest my mind a little and moreover, this was a Singaporean which I thought should be pretty entertaining.
Boy, was I disappointed!
Not only was this without a storyline, it was pretty lame with the jokes and also the funny sides of it.
Of course, I will not deny that it did stifle a laugh or two BUT, it was obviously corny and also, really something that was so childish.
The story (sort of) revolves around these 5 ghosts, Ah Hip and Ah Hop (one speaks Cantonese and the other speaks American English), Madam Wong( a devoted housewife of a mother),a girl (couldn't remember her name), Ah Leng (a mad guy) and also Ah Boon (an obsessed badminton player). Oh, not forgetting Sunny (Johnny in Maggi and ME) who was mysterious and the one doing all the video shooting throughout the movie that you don't see him at all.
They were pretty clueless and low in intelligence ghosts who roam about in this unoccupied flat; boring each other's lives until one day, this particular new ghost joined them and created excitement as he taught them to scare the humans off.
They soon found out that this new guy, David/Albert or Gilbert as they call him was a fraud and was actually a human in disguise who wanted to obtain evidence of his paranormal investigations.
Then on and on went those ridiculous and weird parts; including some absurd rapping and also love stories and also this contractor and the sissy new landlord...
Finally, Sunny was revealed.....guess who he is?
Well....not that hard....
I wasn't really ticked off by the movie; I find it amusing but after effect, the whole thing really seemed silly and insane for me.

Worth a watch?
For horror? -> No, nothing scary at all
For comedy? -> Can be considered, if you like some silly jokes
For entertainment? -> Well, what are movies for after all?
For info on ghosts? -> Erm...recommend other sites for you :)

For a Singaporean movie, this was really so-so compared to its predecessors (either in horror or comedy )

The Last Mimzy

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
I watched it yesterday; and not too bad a movie lar.....but warning of spoilers; if you are expecting a full sci-fi movie or a purely entertaining kiddo movie like Home Alone, etc...then you should prepare to be disappointed because this is none of those.
Last Mimzy is just a simple movie based on mankind and how scientists were concerned on the extinction of human species and thus worked on something to the past/future to look for a pure DNA which can prevent the extinction from taking place.
Since humans cannot travel across time, they sent stuffed toys with embedded chips....with Intel logo...
Haha...no kidding; there was this scene that when they studied the stuffed rabbit toy, they zoomed in to find Intel's logo!:D

Okay, back to the story...
Noah and Emma were brothers and sisters who were always at loggerheads; Noah always think he is stupid and his sister is even lower in mentality. In the beginning scene, Emma comes into dinner to ask her brother to fix something for her and Noah went, "Why are you always ruining things?" (Noah had a bad day at school; did badly in his science test:p) and then he asked, "SO, where is this STUPID thing you want me to fix?"
And this cute little girl, Emma answered, "It's in my stupid hand"....haha, to me it was really funny and cute:p
Then the family went on a vacation to an island and their beach home when Noah and Emma stumbled upon a weird looking object in the sea which turned out to contain stones, a amoeba looking thing and also a stuffed rabbit; oh ya, I forgot the piece of shining rectangular plate which seemed to glimmer and displays shining triangles.
Anyway, it was not long before Emma and Noah both possessed extraordinary abilities...Noah managed to complete an entire science project on his own; with the theme of spiders weaving web and their frequency which amazed even his own science teacher. His mum was even more suspicious as Noah always looks to her to help out in his science projects.
Emma, on the other hand, clings onto the stuffed toy all the time....and even claims that Mimzy (the toy) tells her things and teaches her.

All hell breaks loose when Noah played with the creature and the rectangular thing got sucked into it and the whole country lost the power supply; probing the FBI and NASA to track them down, suspecting them of terrorism.
They analyzed the Mimzy toy and found weird architecture; zoomed in and saw a micro chip-like thing and then further zoom revealed Intel logo!! (Haha, that got me:p)
Then an Intel engineer was there in the next scene (not real; played by an actor) who claimed that he has been with Intel for years and knows of every nano technology projects and this was way beyond their existing capabilities...haha, cute heh?
Anyway, the movie went on that the kids need to send Mimzy back and they did it with success; predictably :)
Simple; and the pace was a little slow but still okay to watch.

If you google this movie, you will find many reviews about it including that it was like a product-based movie; with Nike during the golf session, Sprite Can magnified, etc and Intel being in the Mimzy.
There's even critics saying that this is a movie below intelligence and moronic....about the science teacher and his fiancee, Noah being able to drive a truck out of the FBI premises, etc.
My comment is just this, watch this without any expectations...just purely for entertainment.
Do not expect hi-tech stuffs as this is a KID movie!!!
What can we expect?
Also, my main feedback on those stuffs like driving a truck; well, it's not that delusional to let kids enjoy the feeling that once in a while, kids can do certain things and they enjoy these kinda movies that make them feel superior as well.

Yes, the pace was slow...but I find it okay for a kid movie.
As for me, only funny thing, I am supposed to watch this to de-stress myself from my work and yet, I see work in the movie...haha :D

Overall, should you watch? Yeah, why not, if you have nothing to watch and don't mind cute kids and childish themes on that day:)
Rating: 2/5 (For general viewing lar...)

Myself, I liked the 2 kids...really beautiful kids.
Emma is such an adorable girl...I really loved her...makes we wanna cry when I see her crying in that scene where her mum threw her Mimzy away and she laid on her bed crying when Noah came in.
So sweet and cute......really lovely eyes and face :)

Noah is also a pleasant-looking boy and he looks fair and smart.....not bad for a child actor:)

Favourite quotes in the movie:
1.Why can't I be born with a smart sister?

2. Noah: Where is this STUPID thing you want me to fix?
Emma: It's in my stupid hand

3. During dinner
Emma: Ewww....they are killing the crab!!! Why'd they do that?
Noah: Else how do you think you get to eat crabs?
Emma takes a bite into her burger, It's so cruel, poor crabs!
Noah: Then what do you think of that chopped up cow you are eating?
Emma: What cow?
Noah: What else do you think burgers are made of?
Emma throws up....

4. Emma's room has this sign that says "Emma's Room"
Noah's Room has this sign, "No EMMA!!"

Enjoy if you do watch:D
I find it just simple for a girl who just wants to watch a movie....and had nothing to watch:)
