News from Uncle

I got a message from Uncle last night; at about 11pm.... (of course Angelstar is already in dreamland:)
I saw the message when I woke up this morning for work....
It said that Uncle has already confirmed the date for his surgery which will be by early next week (initially the date they gave him was next month) but now, after his negotiation with the doctor for the earliest schedule available, he is attended to IMMEDIATELY!!

Praise the LORD!!!
May the glory and strength of the Holy Spirit be with him throughout this tough times....
God, please bless him, shower him with your love that he will make it through...

A prayer for my Uncle (aka Ah Pek:)
When times are tough and all seems wrong
All you have to do is kneel and pray
When you want to laugh and sing a song
Sing with goodwill and praise every day
For the Good Lord above is with us all along
With all his GOOD will and HIS words to say
"Follow me, do not be afraid"
All you need is thoughts of me in your head
A simple Prayer is all you need
To call upon me to be there whenever
I will do the rest and you will recover!

God will bless you; you will be FINE :D

Prayers for a Loved One...

Remember I asked everyone to pray for someone I am close to lately?
Yes, I am still praying for him and he's a very close member in my family...
He is having some problems with his vision; guess age is catching up with him...
I am really sad to hear about it...

I was shocked when I was first notified....on Sunday evening
(Sorry that I am unable to share much on his condition as I am not sure whether he will like it; I have erased the story....I will let you guys know once he has recovered okay?)

He was my favourite uncle, and I was also his favourite niece; the apple of his eye since young.
I joked with him to eat more carrots, papayas and tomatoes; or anything red coz they contain carotenes and Vitamin A which will be good for eyesight.
I even told him I am going to try to fly home to see him and he said no....
I joked that yea, then I will make him so touched that he's gonna shed tears and that will affect him....so, I told him to recover as soon as possible :)
This is my most adored uncle and I couldn't bear to hear anything bad to happen to him.
It was a relief that it was nothing serious but I still pray for his speedy recovery to be normal again.
I talked to him already and it seems that there is nothing serious and he's not in pain or anything like that.
And he will going for a second check up to finalize the appointment...

Anyway, in the meantime, I pray to Mother St Anne and I ask all of you to pray for him as well....
I will stay strong...I am going to pray very hard....for him...
I really appreciate this and may the Good Lord bless all your kind souls!~

Office posts

I noticed that bestie and I like to blog about office happenings and people around us at workplace....
She has a weird retro colleague...and me?
Haha...I have a bunch of weird ladies colleagues who...ermmm...I should say, are not really nice people.....

But anyway, like Unka Chan used to say, when bad things happen, you can either choose to look at it positively or negatively...
And in his case, he chose the latter...
and me, the former of course! :D

**Actually, he said it wrongly when he told me that; he actually meant to say former...but i will hook it on him now...hehe:p **

2kg

I actually lost 2 kg when I got back from Japan and Korea....
Hmmm.....weird hor?
Is it the food there ar?
Perhaps that's why they say Japanese ladies are slim?
Hehe....but I was also in Korea wor....

But it's always like that, each time I go travelling, I will lose weight...

Haha...forget about diets...might as well go travelling to slim down, right? Hehehe....

Diet?

A bunch of office girls are on a diet stint; I don't know what they are trying to do....
Don't blame me for overhearing, they are just nearby and they are talking loudly and also pattering up and down past my cube to talk about their diet...and the food they were supposed to eat on the particular day.
Happened on the 2 days when I was in Kulim...yeah, they are Kulim colleagues.

They were cutting down on lunches; refused to go out with the guys and they are following their own customized diet.
Hahaha!!
They are not exactly my best friends and I don't really care what they do....in fact, one of them was a spiteful one whom I have stayed off the the boundaries with.
To me, it was just funny to hear about diets....

I don't know why, I don't really believe in all those diets and slimming...
I know, I am not exactly the best person who eats or even to talk about it because I have weird eating habits and also really picky with my food.
But somehow, I always feel that diets are just crash courses to lose water weight and not permanent weight loss.
Do they really think they will lose those weight off just by a few days' of restricted food?

To me, it's all about yourself and your habits...you may swear off chicken or meat today but is that how you want to live your life?
I am not the best eater, and I have even given up on some food which makes me nauseous and also due to some personal problems...but hey, I didn't crave for them...it's different, I didn't cut them on purpose.

My bestie is one girl I admire; and I always remember her saying that she will never and can never go on diet, because she is hungry and she loves to eat!!
Admire her....and don't care what you think, you are gorgeous, babe and you are not fat ( even when she thinks she's fat, she only whines about it; I have seriously never seen her on a diet).

Me...I have mood swings when eating and I don't really like to eat sometimes, but I don't diet as well.....we are opposites but hey, opposites attract, right?

Bestie, this one's for you, you are the woman of the century! Cheers for one who doesn't diet :)

200 Pounds Beauty

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

This movie is currently showing in cinemas nationwide; a Korean movie which I would say, enthusiasts of soap operas(Korean fans) should not miss.
Why?
It contains all the elements of a likeable Korean hit with all those charming faces and gorgeous babes who even cry pretty:)
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
But besides that, this movie had a new twist from the norm which most of the Korean dramas seem to showcase most of the time of those triangular or square-love as I call it.
Namely, the formula often applied in their movies are usually girl falls in love with boy or vice versa; and at the same time, they both have other people secretly harbouring feelings for them as well; thus boy loves girl, girl loves boy, boy loves girl, girl loves boy.....you know, and then all the trials and tribulations, they end up together but happy ending? Not so...then girl diagnosed with illness (usually cancer...fave is leukemia) and then you follow through the dramatic sequence and end up crying over boxes of tissues.

So what's so different from another Korean spin of movies?
200 Pounds Beauty actually focuses on the realities of life and love (of course) but most importantly, it is educating for the contemporary youth on searching for their own identities and the true deciphering of the saying that Beauty is only skin deep.

Kang Hanna is an overweight or obese young lady who harvests a deep passion for singing. In fact, she was gifted with the voice to sing and this gained her a job as a singer.
No, not a front stage singer, Hanna was actually the back stage singer of a pop singer, Ammy who had the looks and the body but do not have the voice of a singer. In a desperate move to promote her, her manager, Sang Jun, resorted to hiring a voice talent for her to rise to fame.
Hanna was pleased and at the same time, fell in love with the dashing and kind manager.

The ugly truth reveals when she was invited to Sang Jun's birthday party and she wore the dress which the guy bought for her and Ammy appeared in the exact same dress. She was embarassed and as she hid in the restroom, she overheard Sang Jun and Ammy's argument and found out that all along, Sang Jun only wanted to use her to promote Ammy and he warned Ammy to be nice to her.
Soon, Hanna resorted to dieting to lose weight and in one drastic move, she made up her mind to undergo plastic surgery for a total reform.
Disappearing for a year, Sang Jun was searching frantically for Hanna as Ammy was unable to release her album due to her disappearance.

Hanna, in the meantime, has gone through rounds of surgery and tanks of liposuction and she is now a skimpy girl who floats. Estatic, she bought her favourite dress and started singing that she is beautiful on the streets. She turned heads and she soon learnt that beauty really can do wonders!
She was still not confident and even hid behind walls when she bumps into Sang Jun.
She soon learns that her whole recording company have been watching on her dad (an Alzheimer's patient) in the home and she avoided visiting him for a year despite her yearning to see him.

After a careful round of thought, she decided to go back to her old interest, and she auditioned for the role for Ammy's background singer again using the identity Jenny.
She won the contract but Sang Jun had other plans; instead of using her as the background singer, he proposed to bring her up as a new generation singer and using her claim that she was a natural beauty.
A series of events followed and soon, everyone discovered her true identity as Hanna and that she was a fraud.
On the night of her premier/pilot concert, she was so down that she refused to go on stage but Sang Jun pushed her to it and she eventually did.
However, she actually didn't sing BUT broke down and confessed the whole truth.
Sang Jun then helped by showing her old look and how well she sang.
Her true fans told her it was alright and she regained her confidence.
Sang Jun, at the same time, realized he had fallen in love with her.....

Moral of the story?
This is truly a beautiful story and depicts the ugly realities of life. We are often viewed as objects and only nice-looking objects are graded as acceptable. Otherwise, you are often despised; and as such only people with the good looks and the body are considered a position in the society and if you are born with plain looks or even with a heavy weight, then you are doomed to be an outcast in the society; no matter how good or what kind of talents you have within you.
Isn't that sad?
We have so many stories telling us that this is not so; but yet, the media themselves have been playing their part in showcasing all the slim and beautiful/hunky models - creating the image in all the minds that this is the ideal society we are looking at and hence, we are creating anorexics, bulimics and also paving opportunities for the plastic surgeons and also liposuction to make their way into the industry.
BIG SIGH!

This movie really touched me; and it really made me feel very sad that we are such shallow beings despite the advancement of technology. I felt the tears particularly towards the end of the movie; especially when Hanna confessed to the crowd....

So sad....actually it is a clear distinction between Hanna, Ammy and Sang Jun - the 3 main characters in this movie. Hanna was the only one who was not the "in" crowd BUT, she was also the only one with a pure and generous heart who was kind to everyone.
Ammy was too conceited and selfish about herself and her looks; same goes for Sang Jun....
Perhaps, that's the price that is tagged with beauty....it always invites vanity and individualism along with it....

Perhaps we should really reflect and think about it...
Are looks really that important to you?
Can we make a difference?
Let me know your thoughts if any....

A Prayer....

I just received some news yesterday; it came a bit late for me...but I was nevertheless stunned when I heard it....
I didn't know how to react except, nodding and uttering soft "Uh..." all the way on the phone.
I can't tell at the moment, but I am keeping safe prayers for this person; someone who is very dear to me....not exactly my immediate family but he is more than anyone else in this world to me besides my parents.
I am praying that he will be fine...and I am asking you guys to help me to pray for this person as well....just a simple prayer....
Hope he will be fine soon and good news will be following...
Thanks to all of you!~
